The St. Lawrence women's basketball team fell to Skidmore, 68-48 in a Liberty League contest Friday evening at Burkman Gymnasium. The Saints carried the lead through the third quarter, but the Thoroughbreds tallied 31 points in the fourth to defeat the Saints.
St. Lawrence was led by junior Cara Waterson who scored 14 points. Senior Caroline Dalton added 10, while junior Kaelyn Kohlasch tallied nine.
The Saints led 17-8 at the end of the first quarter and 27-23 at halftime. Dalton nailed a three-pointer to give the Saints a 14-point lead (39-25) at the 5:56 mark of the third quarter, but Skidmore cut the lead to six heading into the final quarter. The Thoroughbreds tied the game, 46-46, on a steal and a layup by Kelly Donnelly with 6:38 to play in the fourth quarter. The Saints regained control off a jumper by Annabella Pugliese to lead 48-46, but Skidmore closed the game with a 22-0 run.
Skidmore was led by Donnelly and Veronica Moceri, who both tallied 20 points. Catie Opfer contributed 11.
St. Lawrence finished the season 9-15 overall and 6-10 in conference play, while Skidmore improved to 16-8 and 12-3.
