The St. Lawrence University women's basketball team defeated Bard College, 66-41, in Friday night's Liberty League contest in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. The Saints, who improved to 15-4 and 9-1 in the conference, used a 22-10 run over the last 9:38 of the first half to build an advantage which they would not relinquish. Meanwhile, the Raptors fell to 7-14 overall and 1-11 in the conference.
St. Lawrence was led by juniors Hannah Wilson and Kelly Legg, who each tallied 12 points apiece. First-year students Julia Raue and Lauren Quattrocchi added nine and eight points, respectively. Bard's Bianka Bell and Tytravia Riley scored 15 and 14 points, respectively, for the Raptors.
Neither team shot particularly well in the opening 10:00 minutes of the first half, as the score was tied 12-12 with 9:38 left in the stanza. However, St. Lawrence's 22-10 run to close the half gave the Saints a 34-22 lead.
Though the home team cut the deficit to eight points on two different occasions early in the second half, a scoreless stretch of eight minutes allowed the Saints stretched their lead back up to as many as 25 points, 66-41, when the final whistle blew.
St. Lawrence will take on Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY tomorrow afternoon in a key Liberty League match-up. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00pm.
