Senior Caroline Raue advanced to Saturday's final in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:44.14 to highlight day one of St. Lawrence University's participation in the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse on Thursday.
Raue trimmed 13 seconds off her qualifying time and finished eighth in the qualifying races which advanced 14 of a 22-runner field to Saturday's 1:45 p.m. CDT final.
Sophomore Carly Stine finished 13th in 1:02.65 and senior Jess Marini was 16th in 1:03.19 in the preliminaries of the 400 hurdles on Thursday, missing out on the opportunity to advance to the Saturday finals, which took the top nine finishers in the first round. The Saint 4x400 relay of Marini, Hannah Kinsey, Marisa Turner and Stine ran 3:55.33 in the preliminaries and finished 15th, failing to qualify for Saturday's final.
Elizabeth Edwards finished 14th in the 10,000 meter final with a time of 36:59.43
Senior Jake Fredericks will be the lone Saint competitor in action on Friday, running in the 110 hurdles prelims at 5:25 p.m. CDT.
