Seniors Charlton Kelly and Brendan McNamee each scored to lift the St. Lawrence University men's soccer team to a 2-0 win over the Bard Raptors in Liberty League play at Sandy MacAllaster Field on Friday afternoon.

McNamee led the Saints with a goal and an assist against the Raptors. Kelly and Tapshak Augustine each recorded to shots on goal in the win.

McNamee chipped the ball to Kelly, who sent a quick shot past Raptors' goalkeeper Logan Leppo to give the Saints a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute of play.

McNamee originally sent a shot wide, but the shot rebounded off a defender and back to his feet for the rip to the back of the net, giving the Saints a 2-0 lead during the 51st minute.

Shortly after the Saints' second goal Hunter Davenport challenged Saints' goalkeeper Mike Smith, but Smith came away with the save, keeping the Raptor's scoreless.

"Once again it was a complete team effort against a well-organized Bard team that is drilled defensively," said head coach Mike Toshack. "However, we got the goals we needed and possessed the ball for large moments of the game. Many of our young players were able to contribute today off the bench and now we turn our attention to Vassar tomorrow."

Davenport recorded the Raptors lone shot on goal.

Smith earned his fourth shutout of the season and made one save, while Leppo made six saves for Bard.

The Saints held a 23-3 shot advantage, including an 8-1 shots on goal edge.

With the win, St. Lawrence improved to 8-2-2 on the season and 4-1-1 in conference play, while Bard fell to 3-9-1 and 0-5-0.

The Scarlet and Brown will return to Sandy MacAllaster Field to host the Vassar Brewers tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m.
