The St. Lawrence University men's crew team raced against Ithaca College and Skidmore College at Cayuga Inlet in Ithaca, NY on Saturday morning. The Saints varsity 8+ boat beat Liberty League rival Skidmore while finishing behind Ithaca, while the novice 8+ narrowly lost to the Bombers by a mere .7 seconds.
The three teams raced the 2000m course with a 5-10 mph tail-wind and measurable tail-current. St. Lawrence's time of 6:23.9 topped Skidmore in the varsity 8+ by nearly six seconds, while Ithaca posted a victorious time of 5:54.5. The Bombers' novice 8+ won in 6:22.3, with the Scarlet and Brown trailing in 6:23.0 well ahead of Ithaca's "B" boat (6:56.7).
Ithaca also won the JV 8+ race with a time of 6:15.9 ahead of St. Lawrence, which closed in 6:37.1.
The St. Lawrence men's crew team will race again next Saturday, April 20 against Hamilton College in Clinton, NY.
