Mark Syron and Mark Magovney had three hits each and the St. Lawrence University baseball team scored at least one run in each of the first six innings en route a 11-7 non-league victory at Plattsburgh on Wednesday.
The Saints, 14-12, jumped out to a 6-0 lead before Plattsburgh got three back in the bottom of the fourth. SLU made it 7-3 in the top of the fifth and added four more in the top of the sixth to set up the win.
Zane Fish singled home a run in a two-run first, Bryan Palermo delivered a sacrifice fly in the second, Devin Robson doubled and scored on Brian Magovney's single in the third and Chris Fernandez tripled and scored on Palmero' s sacrifice fly and the Saints tacked on a run on an error and Robson's sacrifice fly in the fourth.
Plattsburgh got three runs, two earned, off Saint starter Ben Jenkins in the bottom of the fourth, but the Saints scored on Fernandez' single in the top of the fifth and put it away in the sixth on a run-scoring single by Andrew Schreyack, Magovney's double and John Ainsely's two run single in the sixth.
Jenkins went the first four innings for the Saints, allowing three runs on five hits while Jake Farrell pitched two innings in relief with Frank Grady, Liam Rogers, Alex Dermody and Mike Dell'Olio also seeing action on the mound.
