(Canton, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton softball team remained perfect in the Sunrise Conference as they shut out Vermont Technical College on Sunday winning 18-0 and 10-0 in Canton.
The Roos improved to 8-0 against conference opponents and 10-12 overall as they won their ninth game in their 10 outings.
The Roos banged out 18 hits in the first game led by Vickie Lynch (Howard Beach, N.Y.) had laced four singles, drove in four runs and scored four times.
Jenifer Shaw (Helendale, Calif.) ripped a pair of doubles and two singles and she also had four RBIs. Lyndsay Coppola (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) stroked three singles and scored three times. Carolina Olivares (Adelanto, Calif.) added a triple and two singles. Heather Lottie (Canton, N.Y.) drove in four runs and had a double.
Tina DeLuca (Fresh Meadows, N.Y.) tossed a two-hitter with four strikeouts to notch her second straight shutout. Jessica Measheaw (Hammond, N.Y.) picked up her third shutout this week as she fanned three batters in game two and limited the Green Knights to just one single.
Lottie blasted her first home run of the year in the second game with a three-run shot in the fourth inning to pace the Roos offensively.
Danielle Callahan (Kingston, N.Y.) added two singles, two runs and two RBIs. Barbara Gonzalez (New York, N.Y.) contributed a single and three runs as she also drew two walks, and Coppola chipped in with two doubles, a single and two RBIs.
The Roos will head to Pennsylvania this week for doubleheaders against Albright College on Wednesday, April 13 and Cabrini College on Thursday, April 14.
