Canton, NY – Three different players found the back of the net and senior Evan Drew (Elizabethtown, NY) recorded his second shutout of the season as the SUNY Canton men's soccer team defeated visiting Keuka College, 3-0, Sunday afternoon. With the win the Roos improve to .500 at 3-3, while the loss drops the Storm to 2-2.

The Roos got the scoring started early when Hunter Mowery (Elizabethtown, NY) took a tipped pass in front of net from Nick Escalante (Whittier, CA) and headed the ball into the open net for the 1-0 lead. SUNY Canton controlled a majority of possession in the opening half tallying five shots to take the one-goal lead into intermission.

Just seven minutes out of break the Roos were on the attack once again. Elhadji Gueye (New York, NY) received a pass from Escalante on the run as Keuka keeper Willie Romero came charging out. Gueye made a nice move to his left to elude Romero and with another defender tracking him down managed to stay on his feet and place the ball into the open net for the 2-0 lead.

SUNY Canton held a huge 12-2 edge in corner kicks on the day and that paid dividends in the 76th minute when Abdulai Jagana (Bronx, NY) played the ball into the center of the box from the end line. His kick would find defender Jose Menendez (Maracay, Venezuela) in traffic who headed the ball past the keeper into the right side of the net.

The Roos held a 12-4 shots and 6-2 shots on goal advantage in the contest. Drew made two stops for his second clean sheet of the young season, while Romero made three saves for the Storm.

The men's soccer team will take the field again Saturday when it hosts Union College at 1:00 p.m.
