CANTON – A river ice-cutting party is set for Saturday, Feb. 16 from 9 a.m. on, sponsored by Local Living Venture and free and open to the public.
Interested people can spend time on the completely off-the-grid, non-electric homestead of the Douglass family, using horses and human power as well as a water-pumping windmill.
And people can learn more about the time-honored skill of hand-cutting ice from a pond for a root cellar or icebox storage during warmer weather.
Everyone is welcome to bring a bag lunch, though homemade soup will be provided.
This event is near Canton. An RSVP is necessary for the exact address.
To register email SustLivingProject@gmail.com or call 347-4223 and note attendee names, home and cell numbers and email contact information.
