Rick "Buzzard" Gladding, 70, St. Regis

ST. REGIS FALLS -- Rick “Buzzard” Gladding, 70, of 33 Back Street passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at his son’s home in Massena surrounded by his family.

Rickey was born on January 25, 1953, in Potsdam, son of the late Alfred and Marjorie (Lea) Gladding. He was a graduate of Norwood-Norfolk Central School and entered the US Army on October 21, 1971, and served until his honorable discharge on October 20, 1974.

He worked for Kraft Foods in Canton and then was a self-employed salesman until his retirement. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Rick’s true joy in life was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.

Rickey is survived by his four children, Rickey and his wife, Danielle (Paquin) Gladding, Michael Wheaton, Shawn and his wife, Hailey (Cartier) Jacob, and Adam Gladding and his companion, Lisa Bradley. He is also survived by five siblings, Gary and wife, Linda Gladding of Massena, Terry and wife, Carol Gladding of Norwood, Ronnie Gladding and companion, Doreen Brown of Norfolk, Tammy Lindsey of Tennessee, and Randy Gladding and companion, Kim Staie of Norfolk; his grandchildren, Amya, Jade, Sophie, Olive, Corey, Zach, and Sadie; and his great-grandchild, Evelyn.

In addition to his parents, Rickey was predeceased by both sets of grandparents, aunts, and uncles; a niece, Tracey Gladding, and a nephew, Jason Gladding.

As per Rickey’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. A Celebration of his life will be held in January 2024.

Memorial donations may be made in Ricky’s memory to the ALS Association or Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
