MASSENA — A public hearing has been set for Feb. 15 at 5:30 p.m. for public comment regarding the moratorium on cryptocurrency mining in Massena.
Town officials voted to set the public hearing for the beginning of the next regular board meeting during the most recent regular board meeting on Jan. 19.
Officials voted last November to extend the moratorium until Feb. 28, citing concerns surrounding zone and code enforcement language that needed to be implemented.
Primary concerns revolved around the use of sea boxes or storage containers on concrete slabs, a design that a number of crypto mining companies have used across the country as a cost saving measure.
