POTSDAM -- What are the pros and cons of nuclear power? “To Be or Not to Be... Nuclear?” will be discussed by Clarkson University Professor Emeritus Eric Thacher at the next Science Café at La Casbah, 6 Elm Street in Potsdam, on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 7:15 p.m.
Thacher is well versed in the issue, having had Navy nuclear power training and served on a submarine powered by a nuclear reactor, and, as a civilian, worked in the Nuclear Energy for Rocket Vehicle Application and thermionic fuel element programs, and with high-temperature, gas-cooled nuclear reactors.
Science Cafes bring together engineers, scientists and townspeople in a relaxed, informal setting, such as coffeehouses and pubs.
