POTSDAM -- At a meeting tonight, the Potsdam Central School Board of Education will discuss the contract between the district and Village of Potsdam for an armed in-school police officer.
The school board meeting will be held in a room referred to as the “LGIR” at A.A. Kingston Middle School at 6:30 p.m.
A committee is being formed as part of the process to hire an armed officer, which officials sometimes refer to as a “school resource officer.” The person selected will assume the role this fall.
Superintendent Joann Chambers is expected to give reports about district-wide safety plans and 2018-19 goals, among other topics.
The board will also discuss establishing 2018-19 tax rates.
The board also anticipates voting on appointments, resignations and leaves of absence.
