POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Humane Society has established a Anne Ellis Memorial Fund in memory of Potsdam resident Anne Ellis, who passed away Nov. 25.
The Susan Komen fund was selected to receive donations in Ellis’ memory, but the shelter wanted to honor her commitment to animals and military veterans.
The memorial funds will benefit the humane society’s “Pets for Vets” program. The program waives adoption fees for veterans as a show of gratitude for military service. When a veteran seeks to adopt, they will be told the fee has been sponsored by Anne’s Memorial Fund.
The shelter hopes to take a photo of each vet with their new pet to publish on the “Pets for Vets” website page and send to Ellis’ family.
Checks may be mailed to 17 Madrid Ave., Potsdam, 13676, or dropped off at the humane society with “Anne Ellis Memorial Fund - Pets for Vets” on the note line. Credit cards and PayPal are also accepted at www.potsdamhumanesociety.org.
