To the Editor:

The Co-op held its 15th Annual Baking Contest and Silent Auction on Sunday, Dec. 2 from in the Carriage House Bakery to benefit the Potsdam Neighborhood Center. We had 24 delicious entries that provided a feast for the eyes and pallet for the many visitors who attended.

The bakers with the most votes in each category of our friendly baking contest were: Cookies: Ginger Pear Cookies by Zena Turner; Desserts: Cinnamon Apple Pie by John Dewar; Special Diet: Gluten-free Triple Chocolate Mousse Cake by Maliah Wright; Savory: Savory Rice Pudding by Susan Dillon

The winners in each of the categories receive a $25 Good Food Gift Card from the Co-op.

We are grateful to all of the bakers who donated their delectable treats! Their generosity makes this holiday tradition and community event possible. Important also are the bidders in the Silent Auction and contributors to the donation jar. Collectively, a total of $907 was raised for the Potsdam Neighborhood Center.

Also, thank you to the many volunteers who assisted in decorating, serving, and clean-up.

The Annual Baking Contest and Silent Auction is part of the Co-op’s commitment to the community. It is a free event and open to everyone. This is a great way to begin the holiday season while supporting a worthwhile organization.

Lynn Clark, Potsdam Co-op.
