POTSDAM – Potsdam Town Clerk Cindy Goliber says the problems with the state hunting and fishing license system are not completely solved, but the situation is improving.
“I was actually able to sell a fishing license today, so I think we are good to go on the sales end,” she said in an email.
She had reported Tuesday that the system was not able to print out licenses, receipts or administrative reports.
She was not overly critical of the state Department of Environmental Conservation, which had issued a statewide news release saying that the new system was up and running. She said she believed that department was doing its best to get the problems worked out with the new web-based system, and that she thought they were getting close.
There are “still problems with reports, but that would not affect the public,” Goliber said.
“I understand Hopkinton has been able to sell licenses, but many clerks are still not up and running,” she said after speaking with colleagues elsewhere.
Her main concern with the premature announcement by DEC that the system was ready was that people coming to office expecting to leave with a new hunting, fishing or trapping license would be disappointed.
Now she says she “just wanted you to know that anyone who needs a license to stop by my office.”
