OGDENSBURG -- Shortly before midnight last night Ogdensburg Fire was dispatched to 1001 Mansion Ave. for a reported garage fire.

The building is owned by Pepsi Cola Ogdensburg Bottlers Inc.

Crews arrived on scene to find a tractor parked inside the loading area fully involved in flames, according to Ogdensburg Professional Firefighters Local 1799 Facebook page.

The post said crews secured a water supply and proceeded to extinguish the tractor.

Investigators had the tractor towed to the police station for further investigation into how the fire started, officials said.

“Due to the large size of the warehouse it took nearly two hours to extract the smoke that filled the area,” fire officials said. “It’s believed that all the product in that area will have to be disposed of.”

The tractor was a total loss, the post said.

A crew was called into the station the stand by while the on-duty crew worked the fire.

Assisting on scene were Ogdensburg police, Ogdensburg rescue, Route 11 Towing, and County Car 4.

Crews were back in service about two hours after the incident was reported.

“On-duty personnel did a tremendous job confining the fire to the tractor as this could have spread quickly,” fire officials said.
