CANTON -- CP of the North Country's annual fundraiser, the Polar Bear Golf Classic, raised nearly $12,000 last Thursday.

This event was an all-day affair that featured nine holes of golf in the snow, golf contests, a prize raffle, a dinner, and an after-dinner trivia challenge. Participating were 23 teams of golfers.

Proceeds totaled $11,900. That money goes toward programs and services offered to individuals and families of individuals with disabilities.

The event sponsor for the Golf Classic was Price Chopper. Other sponsors included Best Western University Inn, Brooks Washburn, Architect, P.C., Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, Kinney Drugs Foundation, NBT Bank, North Country Savings Bank, St. Lawrence Golf and Country Club and Hometown Golf, Stephen's Media Group, Wal-Mart of Potsdam, WWNYTV 7 News and Fox 28, Potsdam Elks Lodge, Robert G. Relph Agency, Rose & Kiernan Insurance, Blevins Motors, Corning, Edward Seymour Post 1231, J.C. In addition, the fundraising efforts of community volunteers and local businesses and individuals who donated items for the prize raffle were also key in making the event a success.
