POTSDAM -- The playground at Potsdam Central School may soon have an open-air pavilion for students to enjoy during school and for families to use on weekends and after school.
The 20X40 pavilion would be constructed adjacent to the Lawrence Avenue Elementary playground.
Potsdam Central Superintendent Joann Chambers said that elementary teachers submitted a grant to Lowe’s and permit approvals are needed before any construction can begin.
If approved, Chambers said she anticipates the pavilion would be built in late spring or over the summer.
The project would be funded by grants and community labor with a $4,800 materials grant currently on file Lowes. J. Chambers provided information.
The pavilion would include picnic tables.
Chambers said teachers could bring their students to the pavilion during school hours.
It was suggested at a Jan. 26 Buildings, Grounds and Transportation Committee meeting to contact Brooks Washburn for coordination of the project.
