POTSDAM -- The SUNY Potsdam Math Alliance and Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program will host “Pi Day” Thursday, March 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Barrington Student Union multi-purpose room.
Pi, a very important number in mathematics, can be rounded to 3.14. Math enthusiasts often celebrate March 14 as Pi Day, said event organizers Derek Habermas and Heather West.
Pi Day will include activities such as face painting, temporary pi tattoos, discussions on the history of pi, pi comics, arts and crafts and a pi story corner.
Prizes will be given to the winners of activities such as scavenger hunts, games, puzzles and a pie-eating contest.
For more information contact Math Alliance faculty advisor Derek Habermas, at 267-2059 or CSTEP Counselor Heather West at 267-2708.
