POTSDAM — Young musicians in the region are invited to participate in the second annual Challenge for Young Artists (CYA), which will take place on Saturday, April 13, at 10 a.m. at the Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam.
Applications to participate are due April 1.
The Challenge is open to Junior High and High School students from Northern and Central New York as well as the Capital Region who are “Pursuing Artistic Growth.”
Students will perform live in-person at a 10 a.m. recital at the Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam (specific location given to applicants).
Participants must perform a piece from the current NYSSMA Manual, Level 5 or 6.
See your school’s copy of the current NYSSMA Manual for repertoire.
NO memorization is required.
If you are preparing a solo for NYSSMA, this is a fantastic way to receive feedback from our professional musicians prior to the festival.
All young artists performing in the recital will receive a Certificate of Participation, an ONNY t-shirt, and written feedback from a panel of ONNY’s professional musicians.
For a copy of the Guidelines and an application form, visit onny.org, email challenge@onny.org or call 315-212-3440.
