Opinion: Wood will do what is best for community as a whole, says Hopkinton resident

Sue Wood has proven herself an excellent leader and has served the Town of Hopkinton for many years, first as a town board member and later as the town supervisor. During the controversial wind farm debates, she allowed each citizen the right to voice their opinion, which is extremely important in any democracy.

Sue also developed a survey to gauge those in favor and those against the proposed North Ridge Wind Project, attended every single meeting of the Hopkinton Wind Advisory Board, and read the documents presented on the subject. Sue Wood also attended many Parishville Town Board Meetings and Parishville Planning Board Meetings in an effort to ensure that that residents in both towns had the same protective measures in place.

In addition, she also arranged for the town board and other interested parties to visit Bellmont, to speak with town officials as well as residents who live near industrial turbines in an effort to learn more about the realities of living in close proximity. Wood has the integrity and courage to ensure that the health, safety, and well-being of all residents are protected.

Above and beyond the industrial 600-foot turbines issue, Sue has been instrumental in writing and receiving grants that have paid for renovations to the historic town hall and the museum as well as securing funding for the new municipal building. She is currently in the process of securing funds for improvements to the courtroom through a special New York State Court grant.

Sue Wood has proven time and again that she will do what is best for the community as a whole -- not for special interest groups or multi-billion dollar corporations. Please continue to protect the future of Hopkinton. We need to vote to re-elect Sue Wood for Hopkinton town supervisor on Tuesday, November 5, 2019!
