NORFOLK -- An Ogdensburg resident recently started a GiveForward fund for a Norfolk mother suffering from thyroid cancer.
Donna Black was recently diagnosed with stage three thyroid cancer and has just begun treatment in Plattsburgh, according to Rosemary Vanderburg, who started the fund.
Black is the mother of two young girls, ages three and six. She will have to remain in isolation, away from her daughters, for eight days during treatment.
The money raised by the fund will help with Black’s traveling costs, according to Vanderburg. Medicaid does not pay for her husband to accompany her for treatment.
Vanderburg is a friend of Black’s grandmother, Ruth Monroe.
To donate to the fund visit www.giveforward.com/fundraiser/3qv3/donna-black-cancer-fund.
The fund will accept donations for 91 days, according to the website.
