OGDENSBURG -- Mayor Wayne Ashley proclaimed Sept. 12-23 as Constitution Week in Ogdensburg at the request of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
The proclamation was brought forward by the group in order to coincide with National Constitution Week. Attending the meeting on behalf of the organization were Sheila Rendon, Sally Hartman, Louis Wells and Marlene Watson.
Ashley thanked the members for their work in preserving local history.
The Ogdensburg, or Swe-Kat-Si, Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1896 in Ogdensburg, New York.
The volunteer women's service organization is dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history.
According the national website there are 185,000 members in 3,000 chapters across the world.
