Ogdensburg gets two replies to extended RFP, but only one proposed project

OGDENSBURG – Ogdensburg has again received two responses following a request for proposals at 17 Main Street, but only one is an actual project plan.

At a recent city council meeting, Mayor Michael Tooley announced that the RFP process would be extended until March 5 after two interested developers submitted replies which he believes need additional information.

Tooley said the goal was to give both developers adequate time to submit proposals that met all requirements outlined in the RFP process.

Interim City Manager Andrea Smith confirmed the city had again received two responses, but that Nick Wright, a developer who had hopes of bringing a miniature golf course to the property, indicated he would not be submitting a proposal.

"At this time, we will not be submitting a proposal in response to your RFP on Part A of 17 Main St," his submission said in part.

Chris Frary of At the Docks, LLC, also submitted a proposal which provided additional information regarding their initial proposal to construct a storage/warehouse facility inclusive of site improvements including onsite parking.

Specifically, ATD, LLC detailed how their proposal will comply with the Residential/Business (R/B) zoning district, Smith said.

Over the past few months both developers were vying for two parcels located at 17 Main Street.

Council said they were hopeful they could accommodate both developers, but Wright expressed displeasure with the city’s handling of the situation and decided to drop the project, which appeared to have broad community support.

Meanwhile Frary announced that the 17 Main Street project was part of a larger effort to restore the former Ramada Inn and bring Wyndham Hotel to the city’s waterfront.

City council is expected to discuss the proposal at the next council meeting.
