OGDENSBURG – The Ogdensburg Garden Club has recognized four recipients with the 2020 Maple Leaf Awards for their floral displays that “make the community a more beautiful place to live and visit.”
Kathy Schuman, of Sandwich Warehouse, was recognized in the Business category.
Ogdensburg Public Library Director Penny Kerfien was honored in the Civic category.
Michelle and Jim Morrison received the Residential award.
Andy and Karlyen Manke were presented the “good neighbor” award. This award is presented to someone who volunteers time to a fellow neighbor or the community.
The garden club has been recognizing residences, business and civic organizations for outstanding gardens and floral displays since 1993.
Since Ogdensburg is the “Maple City,” the award is an engraved maple leaf that can be placed on a rod and displayed in a garden/yard or placed in a window display.
A committee of the Garden Club receives nominations in all categories, travels the city to view gardens and then chooses winners each year.
