Greensburg, PA – Bernadette O'Connell (Buffalo, NY) stopped a season-high 11 shots but it was not enough as the women's soccer team dropped a 7-0 road contest to Pittsburgh-Greensburg on Saturday.
Abigail Pasierb, Tiffanni Downey and Courtney Carroll each scored twice for the hosts. Pasierb got it started 4:32 into the contest with a one-timer from inside the box. Madison Bernard converted on a header off a corner 15 minutes later. Downey made it 3-0 on another header off a corner and Courtney Carroll added her third and fourth goals of the season to give the hosts a 5-0 lead at intermission.
Downey and Pasierb added second half goals for the 7-0 final. The hosts held an 18-3 edge in shots on goal and 9-5 advantage in corner kicks. Kristina DiNardo (Ottawa, ON), Fran Trombley (Dekalb Junction, NY) and Paige Hart (Oswego, NY) had shots on goal for SUNY Canton.
O'Connell turned aside 11 shots, while Shannon Edwards made three saves for Pitt Greensburg. The women's soccer team is back in action on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. when they visit Chatham University.
