POTSDAM – The Reverend Michael Richards was installed Jan. 8 as minister of the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity in Saranac Lake and Potsdam.
Holy Trinity is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
Pastor Richards has a diverse ecumenical background, having served at various churches in the Northeast. He was born in West Sussex, England and raised in The Church of England. He is currently also the minister for The First United Methodist Church in Saranac Lake.
The Potsdam Lutheran Congregation met at the Baptist Meeting House on Leroy Street for 21 years, until January 2012, when the Baptists closed their chapel. Upon learning of the Lutheran’s need for a new home, The First Church of Christ, Scientist extended an invitation to the Lutherans to use their facility for worship services. Services in Potsdam are now held there, 28 Elm St., Saturdays at 4:30 p.m. A Bible Study Group meets at 3 p.m. prior to services.
All are invited to attend. For more information, contact Pastor Michael Richards by e-mail (kappillan@msn.com) or phone (518-527-3941), or Carol Manske at 265-3725.
