RENSSELAER FALLS – Indian Creek Nature Center will host a mushroom and moss identification program on Saturday, Sept. 25 and a bird walk on Sunday, Sept. 26.
• Mushrooms or Mosses, Depends: Saturday, Sept. 25, 9:30 a.m. to noon. If there is wet weather sufficient fungi should be available to learn how to identify some of the common mushrooms. If the weather is drier, visitors will learn how to how to recognize the common mosses. The program leader is Dr. Karl McKnight, 229-5147.
• Fall Bird Walk: Sunday, Sept. 26, 8 to 11 a.m. Jointly sponsored with the Northern NY Audubon. Participants will view a wide variety of species on a hike through shrubland, marsh, wetland, and forest along the Tower and Succession trails. A spotting scope will be used to view birds on Lower Lake from the top of the observation tower. Binoculars are available, or bring your own. Leaders for this walk are Mary Beth Warburton 268-0150 and Eileen Wheeler 386-2482.
