Michael T. "Frenchie" LaShomb, 63, Norfolk

NORFOLK - Michael T. “Frenchie” LaShomb, 63, of Norfolk, NY, passed away on October 6, 2026, at Canton-Potsdam Hospital after a brief battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.

Michael was born on January 1, 1963, in Massena, NY, the son of Clark and June (Durant) LaShomb. He graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Central School in 1981 and later graduated from SUNY Canton with an Associate of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering Technology. Michael married Mary Ellen Ryan, and together they had two children, Michael C. and Jordan. They later separated.

Michael worked as a Senior Operator at the New York State Power Authority, retiring after 31 years. He valued his children, was an active member of Sacred Heart Church in Massena, and enjoyed spending time with his family every Sunday after church. A lifelong fan of the New York Yankees, Michael looked forward to visiting his son, Jordan, in Seattle each year to watch the Yankees play, and he took great pride in coaching baseball and basketball at Norwood-Norfolk Central School. In his free time, Michael was an avid hunter and gardener and enjoyed making maple syrup for his friends and family.

Michael is survived by his parents, Clark and June of Norfolk, NY; his son, Jordan (Natsucha) LaShomb of Seattle, WA; his significant other, Jackie Lafountain of North Bangor, NY; a brother, Vincent LaShomb of Norfolk, NY; his sisters, Joan Avery of Massena, NY, Anne (Steve) Karlberg of Norfolk, NY, Maureen Hand of Glens Falls, NY, Patty (Frank) Diagostino of Syracuse, NY, Stephanie (Tim) Beaulieu of Massena, NY, and Jane (Jack) Bain of Massena, NY; 23 nieces and nephews, 27 great-nieces and nephews, 2 great-great nieces and nephews; and his grand-pup, Ruffles LaShomb.

He was predeceased by his son, Michael C. LaShomb.

Friends and family are invited to call on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, from 1:00–3:00 p.m. and 5:00–7:00 p.m. at the Donaldson Funeral Home in Massena. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Massena.

Memorial contributions in Michael’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
