Cortland (2-2) opened the scoring at 3:38 of the opener period on Alex Storjohann's third goal of the season. The Roos responded at 18:42 when Jeffrey Gauld tallied his second goal of the year off passes from Joe Deveny and Mayette. The teams skated to first intermission tied at one.
The Roos (1-3) took their first lead at 16:06 of the middle period on assistant captain Jake Mayette's second goal of the young season. SUNY Canton held that lead until Sean Perichak found the back of the net on the Red Dragon power play with 4:26 remaining.

The men's hockey team returns to the ice on Friday when it hosts Oswego State at 7 p.m. in the Roos House.
