MASSENA -- The Massena Neighborhood Center's Christmas program is accepting applications Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Nov. 5 through Dec. 10 at the center's office, 61 Beach Street.
Last year 426 families, including 568 children and 82 seniors, were served by this program, and those levels are expected to return this year.
Donations are being accepted to purchase turkeys, hams and other perishable items for food boxes and gift cards for children.
Donations may be sent to or dropped off at the Massena Neighborhood Center, 61 Beach Street, Suite 103, Massena, NY 13662.
Students in some of the Massena elementary schools are making “Touch a Hand Touch a Heart” paper hands to be available for a small donation at local businesses, with all proceeds benefiting the needs of the children.
In addition to Massena, the Center’s service area extends into Brasher, North Lawrence, Louisville, Lawrenceville, Norfolk, Raymondville, Rooseveltown and parts of Chase Mills.
It would be greatly appreciated if area businesses would consider supporting this effort by offering these hands to their customers. To participate in this project, or with questions, please call Jill Butler at 769-3140.
