MASSENA -- A 2012 grant could mean new recycling containers for everyone in Massena who has their trash removed by the DPW.
DPW Superintendent Hassan Fayad said they are looking at buying one 32-gallon bin for each account.
“The blue bins are very small and can’t handle the recycling we put out,” Fayad said.
Last year, the village started to crack down on recyclable materials mixed with regular trash. In the following months, Mayor Tim Currier shared reports that showed recycling had risen following the new rules.
Fayad said if they can get them at a good cost, the new bins will have wheels and hinged lids.
He said there could be a hiccup getting them to everyone who qualifies.
“Distribution is going to be pretty challenging, I think,” he said.
