Local concussion experts to speak at Potsdam High School about prevention, treatment

POTSDAM — Speakers will discuss concussion treatment and prevention at Potsdam High School March 5.

The Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs program of St. Lawrence County is hosting the event focusing on concussion-specific training, presented in collaboration with the Brain Injury Association of New York State and the New York State Athletic Trainers’ Association.

This training will be tailored to a wide audience including parents, school faculty, athletes, medical professionals, and community members.

This free training takes place in the PCS HS auditorium, 27 Leroy St., from 6-7:30 pm. The training will feature presenters from St. Lawrence University and St. Lawrence Health System.

Participants are asked to register directly through the website at: https://bit.ly/3RXwzyB. CEUs will be available for some professions including Social Work, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology, and Athletic Trainers.

The training session aims to equip participants with essential knowledge and skills to better understand, prevent, and manage concussions.
