Lingering snowfall expected through weekend with bursts of heavy snow possible in St. Lawrence County

Lingering moisture over St. Lawrence County will keep some light snow around this morning with little or no snow accumulation, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

This afternoon snow showers will become fairly widespread across the area and some of them may produce localized bursts of heavy snow and sharply reduced visibilities, which could impact travel conditions for the late afternoon and evening commute.

Snow showers this afternoon will leave 1 to 2 inches of snow with a high of 32 degrees, the service says. The overnight low will be around 28.

The forecast for the rest of the week is as follows:

Saturday

A 40 percent chance of snow showers, mainly after 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 34. West wind 9 to 13 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Saturday Night

A 30 percent chance of snow showers after midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 25. West wind around 9 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Sunday

A 30 percent chance of snow showers before 9am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 32. West wind 6 to 8 mph. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Sunday Night

Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23. Light and variable wind.

Monday

A chance of snow showers before 1pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers between 1pm and 4pm, then a chance of snow showers after 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
