Three St. Lawrence County libraries are receiving $52,000 for building improvements through the state budget.
Canton Free Library, Massena Library and Ogdensburg library are getting money for a variety of work on their buildings, according to Assemblywoman Addie J. Russell.
Canton Free Library is getting $5,381 for space reclamation, insulation and weatherproofing to create a public use community room, allowing for expanded library services.
Massena Library received $29,750 for new wood decking as needed and a new roof system.
Ogdensburg Library will be the recipient of $16,953 for elevator lighting and door system improvement for safety and better access to public service areas, and for improvements to the fire safety system.
“Libraries are experiencing remarkable increases in use, and with budget cuts creating some hardships, these projects announced today represent progress for libraries,” Assemblywoman Russell said.
