CANTON -- The "Humans Don't Hibernate" campaign has played an active role in promoting healthy lifestyles during the winter months, providing opportunities for residents to participate in healthy, active and community-based activities.
County legislators shared their thanks for those who support the campaign, which county officials said has played a key role in improving the overall health of community members who may not seek out such opportunities during the winter months.
"Local businesses, organizations, and community partners have offered in-kind donations, volunteer assistance, promotional support, and other contributions to assist the Public Health Department in conducting the “Humans Don’t Hibernate” campaign," officials said.
As part of the program, the Nicandri Nature Center has offered to play host, while also offering promotional assistance and staff time to support the event.
Kinney Drugs also offered cases of bottled water for participants in 5K events, while BJ's Wholesale Club offered healthy snacks including bananas, clementines, trail mix and granola bars for each participant.
Also supporting the efforts are the St. Lawrence County Youth Bureau, which offered the assistance of youth volunteers on the day of the event, while the Community Health Center of the North Country partnered with the Public Health Department in support of the event.
"These contributions and partnerships will assist the Public Health Department in conducting the “Humans Don’t Hibernate” campaign and further the public health and wellness objectives of the campaign," county officials said.
