POTSDAM, N.Y.—Oswego State (5-19, 3-15) outslugged the SUNY Potsdam softball team (5-26, 0-18) for two victories on the season's final day. The Lakers took game one 14-1 and rallied for a 12-6 victory in game two. Sophomore shortstop Jordan Ott (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) was 4-for-7 with two runs scored and an RBI to lead the Bears. Junior infielder Katie Marsman (Wantagh, N.Y./Wyoming Seminary) was also 4-for-7 with an RBI and junior captain Alexis Lerman (Fayetteville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) had four RBI, two home runs and two runs scored in the second game. Laker sophomore infielder Ashley Lyman (Lockport, N.Y./Nichols School) was a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, five RBI and two home runs.

Oswego jumped on Potsdam in the first inning of game one, scoring seven runs on six hits. The big blow was a three-run double by sophomore right fielder Marissa Mulvaney (Yonkers, N.Y./Maria Regina). The Bears got one back on an RBI single from freshman catcher Lauren Brace (Moriah, N.Y./Moriah) in the bottom of the inning that scored Ott.

The Lakers got four more in the top of the second, including another three run double from freshman pitcher Lisa O'Callaghan (New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park Memorial). Oswego tacked on three more in the top of the fifth on RBI doubles to close out the 14-1 win.

Potsdam junior pitcher Carina Chirinko (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) (1-11) was touched for 10 earned runs on eight hits, two walks and three hit batters in the first 1.2 innings. The Lakers opened the finale with an unearned run in the top of the first for a 1-0 lead. The Bears answered with three runs in the bottom half on an RBI single from Marsman and a two-run blast from Lerman. Lerman then walked with the bases loaded to force in another run in the bottom of the second and Potsdam led 4-1. Junior first baseman Jacquie Porreca (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster) got a run back for Oswego with an RBI single in the top of the third, but Ott singled in sophomore right fielder Noelle Rufa (Helena, N.Y./St. Lawrence Central) for a 5-2 lead in the bottom of the inning.

Oswego regained the lead with four runs in the top of the fourth, highlighted by a two-run single to center from sophomore left fielder Sam Scott (Parksville, N.Y./Livingston Manor).
