(Canton, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton women’s basketball team dropped a 79-39 decision to Keuka College Tuesday night at home.
The Roos (0-2) had another solid night rebounding as they held a 41-29 edge on the Storm (1-0). Freshman Cortney Whalen (Hammond, N.Y.) scored a team-high 10 points and grabbed four rebounds for the Roos.
Junior Kaitlin Myers (Dannemora, N.Y.) added nine points, seven rebounds and four steals. Freshman Corrine Riegal (Bainbridge, N.Y.) had six points, five rebounds and two steals. Freshmen Elissa St. Germain (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) and Jenise Torres (Albany, N.Y.) contributed five points apiece.
Jessica Brandowski dropped in 23 points, handed out five assists and made five steals to lead the Storm. Brittany Hadley also reached double figures with a 10-point effort.
SUNY Canton is next in action this weekend when they face Bard College on Friday, Nov. 18 in the first round of the Kevin Fee / Roos Classic in Canton. SUNY Potsdam will play Morrisville State College at 6 p.m. in the other first round game. The Roos will play Potsdam at 2 p.m. on Saturday after Morrisville and Bard play at 12 noon. Fee was a close friend of Roos’ head coach Bruce Tallon and a longtime police officer in Ogdensburg and devoted supporter of local and youth sports in the North Country.
