BRASHER—St. Lawrence County Legislature candidate Setcher Krywanczyk wants you to vote for the name you can’t pronounce this November.
A Brasher native, Krywanczyk is a Foster Care Caseworker with the Franklin County Department of Social Services. He says his role offers familiarity and understanding with how Social Services is run, “without the bias” of being employed by St. Lawrence County Social Services.
“I see up close what issues impact families in the North Country, and what services they need. I promise to be a strong advocate for the services that make it possible to raise our families in St. Lawrence County.”
Krywanczyk is also a union steward with UPSEU Local 1222 and is a member of the North Country Poor People’s Campaign, which he says “has prepared me for working with others to address the issues of poverty, healthcare, and affordability in the North Country.”
“I am ready to commit my time and energy to helping the North Country and its people solve any issues we face.”
Krywanczyk graduated in 2022 from SUNY Albany's Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy with my Public Policy degree.
“I offer familiarity with policy, and hold a strong belief in transparency to the constituents you serve.”
Krywanczyk has previously worked on political campaigns for Matt Castelli and New York City Councilwoman Linda Lee, for whom he managed a large team of interns, managed organizers and volunteers, spoke with unions on behalf of the campaign, and organized events.
“For both campaigns I worked, I had to understand the policies and positions for the candidates I worked for as well as the important issues impacting them, and that always involved knowing how to break down the jargon for the people I talked to, to help them understand the issues.”
Krywanczyk says he has been involved in organizing and community events since high school, worked two campaigns as an organizer, and “The people I encountered and worked with always talk about having younger voices involved in government. So when I was asked this year if I would consider running, it felt like the right time,”
“This November, when you look at the ballot line for county legislator, I ask you to vote for the name you can't pronounce!”
District 13 is currently represented by Legislator John Gennett, who has opted not to seek reelection. The district includes all or part of the towns of Massena, Brasher, and Lawrence.
