MASSENA -- Fifty years ago this month the community of Massena honored native Hal J. Smith with several festivities for his accomplishments as Hollywood actor.
Smith, is best remembered for his television character Otis Campbell on the popular 1960's Andy Griffith Show. He was also the cartoon voice of Disney's Winnie the Pooh and hundreds of cartoon characters.
“John D. Michaud III, the author of More Than Otis: No Bull! A Salute to Hollywood actor Hal J. Smith,” remembered the historical day by asking Massena residents if they recognized Smith.
