POTSDAM - John T. Coyle, 62, of Warren passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, October 22, 2026. He was the husband of Joan A. (Lee) Coyle for 41 years before his passing.
Born in Potsdam, NY, he was the son of Shirley (Williams) Coyle and the late Thomas Coyle.
After graduating from Potsdam High School in (1982), he went on to serve in the United States Navy. While in the Navy John served in numerous conflicts including Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield. He served on numerous ships in his career including the USS Capadanno, USS Ticonderoga, USS Simpson, and the USS Edson. After a medical retirement John continued to serve his comrades through various veteran’s advocacy groups.
In addition to his wife Joan, John is also survived by his children: Stephanie Coyle, Michael Lambert, Joseph Lambert; his grandchildren: Lia Lambert, Erik Lambert, Addison Lambert, Charleigh Lambert; mother Shirley; his siblings: Karen, Kathy, Paul, Mary, Georgia; and many extended relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son Christopher and his father Thomas.
Funeral arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, RI 02885 where the family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM. A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Funeral & Memorial Services at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. John will be laid to rest with military honors at St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Vernon Street, Warren, RI.
