James W. Demers Sr., 76, Constable

CONSTABLE - James W. Demers Sr., 76, of Constable passed away on October 6, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family.'

James was born on March 30, 1950 in Bombay, NY, the son of the late Patrick and Dolly (Amyotte) Demers. He attended school at Salmon River Central School and later joined the United States Army, serving from 1968 until 1974. James married Joan Collins on January 8, 1972 in South Colton, NY.

James worked for Germanetti and Ryan Construction for 22 years and was
a member of the International Union 322. He also worked as an operator at Franklin County Landfill for 13 years.

James enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking trips to the casino. He also had a passion for operating Heavy Equipment. In his younger years, James raced snowmobiles in Canada.

James is survived by his wife, Joan; a niece, Tina Timmons of Louisville and a daughter-in-law, Tanya Demers of Constable; two grandchildren, Ariel and Logan Leonard; his sisters, Margaret “Peggy” Casey of Moria and Shelley Fleury of North Tonawanda; his sister-in-law’s, Betty Demers of Constable, Marlene Demers of Constable; a brother, Richard Demers of Indiana and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by a son, James Demers Jr., his brothers, Ronald, Arthur and Gerald Demers and a sister, Sandra Marlow.

There will be no services at this time.

Memorial contributions in James’s name may be made to the Westville or
Constable Fire Department.
