POTSDAM -- Hyde-Stone Mechanical Contractors, with an office in Potsdam, has established a charitable foundation within the Northern New York Community Foundation with an initial $100,000 gift.
The new foundation will enable the company to formalize its reinvestment efforts in support of nonprofit organizations and schools in St. Lawrence, Jefferson, Lewis, and Clinton counties.
The company dates back to 1893 and is currently led by Jay and Dawn Stone and two of their sons, Christopher Stone and Thom Stone.
"This partnership with a company and family that has such a long-standing history in the North Country means so much to us. We are honored to be asked to help maximize their ongoing commitment to being a good corporate citizen," said Rande Richardson, Community Foundation executive director. "The good that Hyde-Stone continues to do will now become more prominent and structured to reflect the family¹s values and interests over the long-term," he said.
"Our family and this company have always understood our role to reinvest in the communities that have contributed so much to our success. We see this as a more thoughtful and impactful way to make sure our charitable work in the North Country is responsibly managed," the Stone family said.
