SOUTH COLTON – Winter cross-country skiing and other events recently wrapped up at Higley Flow State Park, but daily cross-counry skiing continues daily.

Events included the Rod Thomas Memorial Ski Race, a Snowshoe/Trail Run Series, learn-to-ski days for area school groups, a Friends of the Park lesson program for adult skiers, and the Colton-Pierrepont Central School’s Honor Society Snowshoe and Ski-a-thon for Hospice. Clarkson and St. Lawrence universities also trained there. Cross-country ski equipment is available at the park -- free to those under 12 and for a nominal fee for adults.

Skiers may take advantage of the trails at the park every day from8 a.m. to 7 p.m. as long as good conditions prevail.

Over ten miles of trails are groomed and track-set by Friends of the Park volunteers and SLU.
