CANTON — A 47-year-old Heuvelton man convicted of violently raping a 14-year-old girl in Depeyster in 2021 has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.
St. Lawrence County District Attorney Gary M. Pasqua announced the sentencing today (Monday, May 23) of Arric Hunter to 25 years in prison, the statutory maximum, for his conviction of first-degree rape following the jury trial conviction in March.
Hunter will also have to serve 20 years of post-release supervision and register as a sex offender with the state.
Evidence at the trial established that on Feb. 5, 2021, Hunter bound, gagged and forcibly raped a 14-year-old female child at knife point.
Given the nature and violence of the crime, the court sentenced the defendant to the maximum amount of incarceration allowed by law, said a press release from Pasqua.
The district attorney commended Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Joshua Haberkomhalm and Assistant District Attorney Sasha Mascarenhas and for their skilled prosecution.
Pasqua thanked the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Identification Unit and the North Country Crime Analysis Center for providing assistance with the prosecution.
