OSWEGATCHIE — A Heuvelton man was charged Thursday night after fleeing state police at high speeds on a 2008 Hyosung motorcycle on State Highway 37.
Troopers said 19-year-old Anthony J. Butterfield, was observed driving 81 mph in a 55 mph zone around 8 p.m. He allegedly accelerated to evade the officer.
Butterfield was located a short time later on Lord Drive.
He allegedly hid the motorcycle in the woods nearby to avoid being caught.
Butterfield was charged with third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, operating out of class, failure to comply, speeding, reckless operation and uninspected motor vehicle.
He was released on tickets returnable to Oswegatchie court Aug. 3.
