A cold front will push into the region today and into tonight with locally gusty winds and a few rain or snow showers across northern New York, according to the National Weather Service.
High pressure returns for seasonably mild and dry weather by Thursday afternoon. Mixed precipitation is expected Friday. Behind this system a very mild air will push into the region for the upcoming weekend.
Today: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 5 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 43. Breezy, with a southwest wind 17 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Tonight: A chance of rain and snow showers is expected mainly before 7 p.m. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 27. Breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 20 mph decreasing to 5 to 10 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 33. West wind 5 to 8 mph.
Thursday Night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 24. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph after midnight.
Friday: A chance of freezing rain before 11am, then rain likely. Cloudy, with a high near 39. Light southeast wind becoming south 8 to 13 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Friday Night: Rain likely, mainly before 7 p.m. Cloudy, with a low around 34. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Saturday: Cloudy, with a high near 45.
