Canton, NY – Jeremy Gundrum and Madeline Hewitt led the SUNY Canton men's and women's cross country teams as the duo both recorded top 50 showings at the Hoffman Invitational at St. Lawrence Unviersity on Saturday.
Gundrum covered the 8-kilometer course in 29:38 to finish in 50th place, while Jesse Walley was just behind in 29:46, good for 52nd place. Ben York posted a 76th place showing in 31:17, while Kyle Lorey (33:46) and Tylor Makinen (34:24) rounded out the top five for the men in 87th and 90th places, respectively.
The men finished in fifth place out of six teams with 166 points, edging SUNY Potsdam (169). Host St. Lawrence won the team title with 19 points.
Hewitt led the Canton women in 41st place covering the 6-kilometer course in 27:29. Allison Ford (59th – 33:31), Kaitlyn Trusty (60th – 34:49), Jillian Rombalski (61st – 34:51) and Katherine Quane (63rd – 37:17) rounded out the top five.
SUNY Canton finished in sixth place with 173 points, while St. Lawrence won the team title with 19 points.
