GOUVERNEUR -- A Gouverneur woman was arrested Nov. 25 after fleeing police who were attempting to conduct a traffic stop, according to village police.
Destiny Jo S. Hart, 22, was arrested at 7:35 a.m. for obstruction of governmental administration, fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and two counts of failure to stop at a stop sign, police said. Officers reportedly came across Hart’s vehicle while investigating a complaint into a possible domestic dispute in the Price Chopper parking lot. After police activated emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop, Hart allegedly failed to comply and continued driving.
Police allege she failed to stop at a stop sign on South Street at its intersection with William Street and failed to stop at a stop sign on Parker Street at its intersection with Hailesboro Street.
Hart stopped her vehicle in front of her residence, refused to exit the vehicle, and resisted arrest, police said.
She was taken into custody and later released on tickets returnable to Gouverneur court.
